Robert & Wally:
Meet Wally, the Skybridge mascot. After 7+ years with the same family, Wally was dropped off at a local kill shelter. He was scheduled to be euthanized. Anita from Lilo's Promise Rescue happened to be at the shelter to pick up another dog. They mentioned Wally to her and she took him as well. They placed Wally in a kennel while they sought a foster home but he didn't do well. Wally paced inside his double sized crate for hours on end. In spite of eating regular meals daily, he continued to lose weight. I was made aware of Wally by a fellow animal lover, Michele Dimatteo, when I inquired about local animal rescues worthy of a donation. When I met him in January 2012, I could count his ribs from 15 feet away. Yet he was so happy to be in a home. I knew then he was probably stressed to the max from his horrible transition from family life to shelters. I took Wally in and, except for meals and bathroom breaks, he slept for 2 days. With love and caring back in his life, Wally's playful personality returned and he gained back the weight. He loves people, running in the yard and especially rides in the car with the top down. He has his own seat belt harness and jumps with excitement the minute I get it from the closet. Our company reserves a portion of its profits to benefit animals since Wally is in charge. He even has his own email address. He also attends meetings with the engineering core, especially when they include lunch!

Kim & Mandy:
My Happy Tail began when I met Anita. She told me a little about what she does with Lilo’s promise and I signed up as a volunteer. I was appreciative of this opportunity because I had little experience with dogs and knew even less about bully breeds. Through volunteering is how I met the doggy love of my life, Mandy! One lovely day Anita handed me Mandy’s leash and my life would be forever changed for the better…After spending time with Mandy I knew I wanted to be her mom.
Spoil her with lots of toys, give her a roof over her head, a warm bed to sleep in, and shower her with all of the love in the world. I have had Mandy for almost a year and it is the best partnership I could ask for. Coming home everyday to that beautiful face and that wiggly butt makes my day. Mandy loves her Chinchilla and Guinea Pig brothers and sisters. Everyone that meets Mandy loves her…there is just something about her personality that shines through and touches your heart. Mandy has come a long way and has been through so much. I admire her courage and strength…her ability to love and trust even though she had a rough beginning, and bless her little pibble heart for being lazy because naps are important! I am thankful that she was rescued by Lilo’s Promise…She received the love, training, and care that has made her the great dog she is today. I will forever be grateful and dedicated to the mission of Lilo’s Promise.

The Alizzo's & Lacey:
Lacey was in a kill shelter after being brought in as a pregnant stray. All her puppies were adopted but Lacey was out of time.
Dear Lilo’s Promise, Anita and Jenn:
I wanted to tell everyone our “Happy Tail”. Last March, we lost our best friend, Woody, a beautiful, faithful Cane Corso. We had the pleasure of being “owned” by Woody for 13 wonderful years while our girls grew up. Needless to say Joe, and I were heartbroken and lonely now that our two girls had their own lives and were off at college. On a whim a month or so later, we looked through Petfinder and a Lilo’s Promise dog caught our eye. When we contacted Jenn, this dog had been happily reunited with his owner. A few days later Jenn emailed me and asked if I’d be interested in meeting one of their other dogs. She thought she had a good match for our family, a dog named Lacey, who had lived there for 2 years. Anita and Jenn told us she had been consistently overlooked for 2 years. They thought maybe it was her high energy level. Even though she was, and is, tremendously energetic, her training made her so well behaved. When we met Lacey for the first time, it was love-at-first-sight! Those big ears and “cow spots”! She rolled over on her back to let Joe pet her tummy and we knew we found our new best friend. She makes us laugh with her silliness everyday. We swear when she runs her back legs are in front of her front paws! She is a constant sleeping companion for the girls when they’re home from college. Cuddling with her is the perfect end to my day. I think she’s so grateful to have a forever home, but I don’t think she realizes what she gives us in return. Fate brought us to Lacey through another dog’s adoption and we can’t imagine our home without her.
Forever thankful to Anita, Jenn & Lilo’s Promise,
Joe, Sue, Dani, Ali and Lacey
